End of the Month Post - March 2022

Posted by Blokfort - April 2nd, 2022

It's been a while since the last monthly post. I do monthly posts as a sort of "here's what happened in art" journal, as a way to gather and condense what happened for myself, as if anyone was interested, as way for them to see what's on my mind. I haven't been doing monthly posts lately, because I simply haven't been doing much art, if the galleries were any indicator. I recently picked up a full-time job, with a 10-hour 4-day week schedule. It's pretty nice getting three weekend days off, however I'm usually pretty tired on those working days. I get home and generally don't want to do anything except "have fun" for the last few hours of my day. Sadly, there are many times where I just do not have fun with drawing. It feels a little sad to admit this, but drawing can be a frustrating process that I generally don't want to deal with on a workday. Yet there's still tons of projects I want to get done and commissions to do. But, these days, I just do not have the time for all of it currently and I'm having to limit what content I can promise to complete.

Currently, I have my eyes on working on aspects of Eyes on the Prize and doing commissions. For EotP, I want to change how I do the coloring and background. I want to try doing "sketcherly" background, and actually giving the characters some color. I call it "sketcherly" because It's like a sketchy painterly finish. Only problem there is that I'm not that good at picking colors, but I'll figure it out, when/if I get time.

I'm still doing commissions, but I have to pick and choose which ones I accept. I don't like making people wait, so I can't really accept too many, and the ones that I do accept will have to be Sketch - Flat coloring types from now on. I simply don't have time to do big line-arted character sheets, or intricate armors and backgrounds, unless I'm willing to make people wait a long time for them.

So yeah, less art from me in general, but I'm still doing it!
