I'm going to try and keep things more categorized in some way, make voting a bit more fun.

Before you vote, if you have any thoughts on this whole voting thing let me know!
What do you like or dislike, or are there things I can improve on?

Also going to be updating these on Newgrounds too! Votes can be NSFW in nature though, so please keep that in mind.

New vote here!:

End of a month, start of a year. And, as usual, my posts will be fragmented and transitions between points will be hilariously jarring, but, I don't care, so let's get to it. (Maybe I should just add basic word-topic-points to each paragraph to make it easier?)

[Weekly Votes] - It feels pretty good to do the weekly votes now. It's easy to add new votes and to actually do the voted piece, there pretty much no headache involved for me at all now. The only problem now is the limited pool of characters or concepts to throw in as vote choices, which I am confident will expand as time goes on. I think I can comfortably say, that I can keep the weekly votes as an on-going project for a long while now.

[Comics] - I haven't made any attention to it until now, but I finally have at least a few 'pages' done of an on-going comic project: Eyes on the Prize. It's really nothing all that note worthy yet, but I'm thinking there will be around 40 'pages' of this by the time it's done. When will it be done? I have absolutely no idea. This is a point that actually scares me a bit, because I like to be consistent with certain things, and I'm worried that the consistency will change as time goes on (be it consistently good or consistently bad). It is ultimately a NSFW story though, featuring a young man about to enter an unknown world of high standards, and a duo of naughty thieving squirrel ladies (oho!). Go here for the comic: https://blokfort.com/gallery/eyes-on-the-prize-comic/ . Updates will very much be random, as I'm not terribly sure how to work that it in, schedule-wise, currently. I hope it's note hated too much!

[Patreon] - I've just updated my Patreon page (over at https://www.patreon.com/blokfort), And I think I feel pretty comfortable with doing a sort of month-by-month post of all the content done that month, is that makes sense. Currently I feel pretty comfortable with offering: higher quality pics, as sharing and posting these on other websites usually gets a warning of "it too big," so usually i post "posting res" sizes instead, PSDs in case people would want to see some of the inner workings of how I art, and full length time-lapses. The trouble I currently have with all of this though is that I'm not actually sure what the limits of Patreon are currently. I know many people use things like Gumroad, Mega(upload), OneDrive etc. etc. etc. to host their work but I just don't currently know enough about that stuff to say otherwise. So with that said, I will continue to throw most of the content on Patreon in multiple zip files for each section, until I hit some sort of limit, or something changes in the future.

[Content in General] - There are now currently 3 forms of a "sketch" for me. Placement sketches, which I throw on my SFW twitter(https://twitter.com/Blokfort) at least once a day (or if I miss a day, will do 2 the following day.) Placements sketches are super ugly, and usually done very quickly. I try not to get into too much detail with them, because they ultimately get either buried under everything else, or flat out deleted to make some layer space (darn you Procreate!). After placements is a rather muddy experience with either rough sketches, or sketch line-art. Rough sketches are a little clearer as to what I want to draw, and sketch line-art is, in my mind, quick finalization of the art piece in general. The process, unfortunately, can take a very long time, depending on how detailed the thing is. Currently, I think it takes around 1-2 hours to complete a full-body, sketch line-art, flat colored drawing of 1 character. I think to put it bluntly, I just don't have enough skill yet to go faster. (And to top it all off, "Clean line-art" differs from "sketch line-art" by being thinner, and more exact, I suppose. A much larger time sink.)

[What's Next?] - Iunno. I guess I'll just keep poking at the projects I have, do commissions when I can along with weekly voted content. Things are pretty OK at the moment really.

This is a double month post because I decided I didn’t actually have enough to write about for August to warrant it. Late July, I decided I wanted to try doing daily and weekly drawings.

For daily drawings, I would use my own list of characters and try to just come up with whatever I felt like. Usually it ended up as positioning practice with a touch of characteristics learning, since the characters I have are pretty different from each other. I managed to do a daily drawing everyday for abut a month before I decided I really should be doing something else with the time I’m using. This thought crossed over to weekly drawings as well sadly.

The setup for weekly drawings was completely different however. For weekly drawings, I put it to a vote for anyone who was interested. Each week I would come up with 5 choices for people to vote on, one vote per IP. I decided to make a page for it on the website here, because I had found a plugin for voting that allowed images to be attached to the vote choice. All too often when I’ve seen other voting poles from other people, I would have no idea what character or suggestion they give me based on just the text provided. Having to look up what character they meant was annoying.

Sadly, I decided that I can’t currently do weekly or even daily drawings as a project, because it means putting aside all the other projects I’ve been meaning to get done for a while now. There’s a comic I want to complete which I’ve finished the storyboard for already. There’s animation sequences I’d like to try out, but have yet to properly start. I’d also like to go through all my characters and give them proper character sheets for easier referencing. I actually have a few characters that still need their designs to be hammered down before I’m satisfied.

Commissions are the final part of what I’m spending my time on. I don’t actually have much to say for this, because commissions are the “most important thing to get done.” I always put commissions as a top priority project since someone else has persuaded me to draw something for them with green paper, and after accepting the terms I am more than obligated to work on it. Of course, that doesn’t mean I drop *everything in my life* just to get it done, there are limits.

As of writing this, there are still some commissions to get down, but I’m hoping that I’ll have a fair few pages completed of the comic I mentioned earlier. I’m calling it “Eyes on the Prize.” I’m not quite sure how I’ll post all the pages, be it one at a time, all at once, or posting a bundle of pages a few times. Oh, and it’s NSFW. It doesn’t have a tradition “comic” layout either, but rather a image-by-image, or frame-by-frame setup. I’m thinking I might actually share the storyboard with a few people and get new perspectives on it, to help with editing and such. Once this comic is done, I might see about maker shorter ones, tradition comic page format, just so I can actually have content in the “Comics” page I’ve made here on the website :[.

I’m also fiddling with certain parts of the website again, so some things might be a bit janky. (I’m not very good at this stuff.)

(Oh neat, I can make posts here.)

I don't actually go back and reread previous monthly posts when I'm writing a new one. I bring this point up, because I'm not actually sure if there are times where I repeat myself. Even if I do, I'd say that whatever point I do end up repeating would be an interesting thing to view later on. I mention this, because I want to put a disclaimer in place to say "I'm probably going to repeat myself in this post, so hah."Also please disregard how poorly I type sometimes. Thanks!

Another month where I question "what is a sketch" all over again. Most of the pieces I've worked on for July I decided to try something a little different in the process. The process I used for July's "sketches" has 3 steps. These steps mainly concern the line art phase, as coloring is merely a simple matter of grabbing the color and filling in the space, like a coloring book. In every drawing I ever do, I have placement sketches, to, well, place the objects I'm going to draw onto the page. After I've gone through multiple placement blobs and indistinguishable shapes, I make a new layer and try to give whatever I'm draw more of a refined shape. It still has a bit of blobby-jankyness to it, but that's OK. Then, finally, once everything is in a place and I can tell what it is, I "quickly" go over it with a finer line. The second and third parts of the "sketch" process are where I'm currently lost. Someone else might say "hey that's some nice and ***CLEAN*** line art!" to which I would cringe a bit, because when I drew it, I had the intention of leaving it as a "sketch." I DO have a section of art labeled for "clean line art," but I don't actually do it all that often. Clean line art is a very concentrated effort for my part. I'm pacing back on forth on the thought of "well, maybe I should just go back to carving sketches?" Ultimately, the reason why I'm having such an issue with this 'identity crisis,' is that it takes a lot of time to do some of these sketches. I feel like I shouldn't be spending 3-5 sometimes 6 hours on a single piece labeled as a "sketch." Pretty much every "sketch" I've done this month had also been colored, so maybe that's were some of the time slips through. And maybe also reference finding. Bah.

Speaking of sketching, I've started up a "weekly vote (NSFW!)" type thing. Every week, I'll pick 5-6 choices for people to choose (you get 1 vote, I wish it were multiple, but eh.) and by Friday of that week, I'll hope to have the [flat colored sketch] finished! New votes will be every Friday, and votes will run until Monday. At the moment, it is mostly NSFW oriented, but There will be some SFW variants, or non-furry choices to choose from occasionally. So far, I've done 4 votes, and 4 drawings early / on time! Woo!

Along with the new "sketching" woes and votes, I've picked up on one of my other projects I've been wanting to get to for a while, which is comic making practice. The first comic I'll be doing is NSFW furry related, called "Eyes on the Prize." It's about two squirrel thief sisters named Kieran and Ladrei, to which they sneak into a castle and steal some booty. Were it only that simple, heh. The comic layout is not actually a traditional one, but rather a sort of "frame-by-frame" comic. One page will dedicate a whole picture, as will the next, and the next, a sort of sequential piece. I do have a plan for a traditional comic after this one is done, and I'm honestly dreading it. Sometimes I think back to my much older comic "Old as Ice" and I wonder how I even dared to try that. And yes, I actually still have plans/wants to completely redo that. New Old as Ice (heh) will have some character rearranging, some new ones, but somewhat the same story. But that's for another time I think.

While I do have a plethora of furry related commissions, I am open to doing other things too.

SFW, NSFW, doesn't matter.
